CPI-M's allied outfit, were evicted from three localities in Wayanad

Over 20 activists, said to be belonging to the ruling CPI-M's allied outfit, were evicted from three localities in Wayanad district where land has been encroached over the past few days as part of what the outfits claim is the struggle for landless tribals.

Police had evicted 22 members of the pro-CPIM 'Kerala State Karshaka Thozhilali Union' from two locations of the Arapetta estate of the Harrison Malayalam Tea Plantation Ltd and four activists of a CPI (ML) faction from the Centinal Rock Estate at Munakkai in the district, Deputy Superintendent of Police Purushottam Adiyodi said.

A group of suspected KSKTU workers had claimed right over the land by encroaching it on Wednesday last claiming that the land was under the company's illegal possession.
