DHRM workers accorded reception

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The DHRM activists, who have been granted bail by the High Court in the Varkala murder case, were accorded a reception here on Monday.

Hundreds of DHRM activists took part in the reception accorded to the eight DHRM activists in front of the Secretariat in the afternoon.

Those who released on bail alleged that they were tortured severely by the police while in custody.

The arrested activists had got admitted to the General Hospital here alleging torture after getting bail. However, they left the hospital on Monday without even collecting the discharge cards.

Sivadasan, a native of Varkala, was murdered and another person was hacked allegedly by the DHRM workers in the early hours of September 23 last year
