Meet to discuss land acquisition for airport

Kozhikode: A meeting of peoples representatives and officials concerned in Malappuram and Kozhikode districts will be convened shortly to chalk out a plan to speed up the land acquisition for the development of the Calicut international airport at Karipur.

Pradeep Kumar, MLA, said here on Tuesday that he was informed about the meeting in reply to a submission he had made in the State Assembly.

The land needed for the airport is 137 acres.

Following stiff resistance from the people whose land has to be acquired, the Malappuram Collector, at one point of time, could not even collect the details of land ownerships.
