Real life role for Mohanlal

KANNUR: Actor Mohanlal, in his new avatar as a soldier, appeared every bit a battle-ready jawan as he underwent weapons training at the 122 Infantry Battalion unit here on Friday.

Lt. Col. (Hon.) Mohanlal mingled with the soldiers and officers of the Territorial Army unit here as he joined them for a two-day training programme that began at 6 a.m. on Friday. Wearing camouflage uniform, Lt. Col. Mohanlal was given training in the use of a family of infantry arms belonging to the Indian Small Arms System.

Battalion Commanding Officer Col. Davidson Kolath, Lt. Col. Karan Bhagat, Major Muneesh Bharadwaj and Subedar Major H. Vijayan were present when Lt. Col. Mohanlal was given training in the use of assault rifle, light and medium machine gun, among others. He was also given training in the use of 81-mm mortar, signal radio communication, day-time and night-time firing.
