Sand prices will come down soon, says Isaac

PALAKKAD: Finance Minister T.M. Thomas Isaac said here on Saturday that sand prices were expected to come down within a month as sand mined from the Malampuzha, Chulliyar and other reservoirs would hit the markets in a couple of weeks.

He was addressing an all-party meeting called by the government to discuss issues relating to the removal of sand from the Malampuzha and Chulliyar Dams. The Minister said sand from the reservoirs would be auctioned every fortnight. In the next two months, about 2 lakh cubic metres of sand would reach the market from Malampuzha. The price would be fixed as per market conditions, he said.
