SLEC okays land value for track doubling

KOCHI: Giving a fillip to the track doubling along the Mulanthuruthy-Kuruppanthara stretch, the State-Level Expert Committee (SLEC) has approved the price of land to be given to the land owners earlier fixed by the District- Leve l Ex p e r t Committee.

Around hundred families have given over their land for the purpose. With the SLEC approving the value of land, it will be easy for the Revenue Department to acquire the land. The delay in land acquisition had been one of the major hurdles to completing the doubling work.

The Railway Budget 2010-11 has earmarked Rs 2 crore for the Kayamkulam-Mavelikkara, Rs 5 crore for Mavelikkara- Chengannur, Rs 20 crore for Mulamthuruthy- Kuruppanthara and Rs 20 crore the Kuruppanthara-Chingavanam stretches
