State\'s IT sector best in country: MP

KOLLAM: K.N. Balagopal, newly-elected Rajya Sabha member, has said Kerala is the only State which offers the best of basic facilities to the information technology (IT) sector.

Addressing a Meet-the-Press programme organised by the Kollam Press Club on Tuesday, he said in addition to Thiruvananthauram and Kochi, there was another cyber park in Kozhikode with an area of five-lakh square feet.

Mr. Balagopal, who had been serving as political secretary to Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan, said the State governments IT company, Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd (KSITI), had the potential to bring about 10 times more development in the IT sector than SmartCity.
