Twin bomb blasts: Another accused Shafas grilled

KOZHIKODE: The National Investigating Agency, probing various terror-related cases in Kerala, Wednesday took Shafas, a key accused in the March 2006 twin bomb blasts here, to three spots in the city as part of evidence gathering in the case.

The team led by NIA Superintendent T K Rajmohan took Shafas, a close accomplice of T Nazir, who plotted the blasts reportedly to avenge the 2002 Marad communal clashes in which five persons were killed, to spots close to the Markas mosque complex, Palayam mosque and the KSRTC bus station amid tight security, NIA sources said.

Two persons, including a police constable, were injured in the blasts in the private bus and the KSRTC bus stations here on March 3, 2006.

Shafas, brought here from Viyyur Central Jail in Thrissur, was subjected to sustained interrogation Tuesday.
