TPURAM: A man wanted by the Cyber Crime Cell here for posting a picture of a palatial home on the internet, stating it was owned by CPI-M state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan was arrested at Chennai airport Thursday.
According to Cyber Crime Cell of the state police, Shan Shamsuddin (23) was detained by Emigration authorities at Chennai airport Thursday morning while he was about to board a flight to Qatar, where he was working.
Police said he is the eighth accused in the case and that a look-out notice had been issued by Kerala police as he had been absconding since March 16 after coming home from the Gulf
A circle inspector of Kerala police left for Chennai on receiving information and arrested him. He would be produced before in a court here today, they said.
The case was registered in November 2009 on the basis of a complaint by Vijayan that the posting of the fake picture in was meant to tarnish his image.
On investigation, it was found that the picture which was posted on the internet was the house of an NRI in Kerala.
