CBSE goes global from April 1

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the countrys largest school board, is all set to go global from April with the launching of Central Board of Secondary Education International (CBSEI).

Initially to be launched in 25 schools in Oman, Qatar, Dubai, Muscat and Singapore the new board with a syllabus at par with that of the International Baccalaureate (IB) would reach out to more than one lakh students abroad.

These schools already have affiliations with the CBSE. They would launch the new curriculum in Class I and Class IX as a pilot project and then over the next three years would cover till class XII.

However, these schools would have CBSEI along with the regular CBSE course so that students might opt for either of the two according to their preferences.
