Cheque case against Muneer

PERINTHALMANNA: The Perinthalmanna First Class Court on Wednesday rejected the plea seeking to stop the further proceedings of the cheque case against Dr M K Munner, former minister and Muslim League state secretary.

Rejecting the plea, Magistrte P Sabarinath opined that a decision on it has to be taken by the Kerala High Court as per CrPC 482. Further trial in the case has been postponed to July 12.

Zayeed Abdul Hazeeb of Tirur approached the court lodging a complaint against Muneer. In the case registered, Zayeed stated that the cheque of Rs 8 lakhs of South Indian Bank, Ernakulam branch, given by Muneer bounced for insufficient funds. The cheque dated March 30, 2007 was given for the amount borrowed from Zayeed.

The case has been filed as per Negotiable Instruments Act, Section 138, on November 4, 2008 at the Tirur First Class Magistrate Court.
