FACT, HIL to share drinking water cost of Eloor panachayat

KOCHI: Fertilisers and Chemicals Travancore (FACT) and Hindustan Insecticides Limited, (HIL) Udyogamandal, Monday entered into an agreement for sharing the cost of free drinking water being supplied to residents of the nearby Eloor Gramma Panchayat.

The water supply has been effective since January last year.

According to this scheme, 1.6 million litres of water is made available every day by the Companies free of cost to Kerala Water Authority (KWA) for free distribution among more than 3000 households of the panchayat, an FACT press release said Monday.

C K Sasikumar, Deputy General Manager, FACT and K K Dhar, General Manager, HIL, signed the agreement representing the respective organisations at a function at FACT.

M S Mythili, Chief Environmental Engineer, Kerala state Pollution Control Board chaired the function.

V G Sankaranarayanan, Director (Technical) FACT, who spoke about the scheme and said this was part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the companies and hoped that other companies would join the scheme.
