Jana Maitri to be extended to more police stations

ALAPPUZHA : The Jana Maitri Suraksha project has turned out to be a multi-faceted boon for the police, with crime coming down, awareness being spread on traffic safety and also by helping police elicit information on illegal activities more easily, Inspector General of Police (Ernakulam Range) B. Sandhya has said.

Speaking at a district-level review of the project at the Alappuzha North Police Station here, M. Sandhya, who is also the nodal officer for the project, said the concept was at present being implemented in 41 police stations across the State.

The Government had decided to extend this to 100 police stations apart from making the system in the existing 41 stations much more effective
