Road works to be over before monsoon

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Road tarring work along the Kowdiar-Kuravankonam stretch of the Pattom-Kowdiar corridor would begin on Monday, officials of City Road Improvement Project (CRIP) said.

This will provide some relief to motorists and residents of the area who have been coping with unfinished road work and pipe laying work for more than a year now.

Although preliminary road work along the stretch began in January 2009, delay in shifting utilities and re-laying drinking water pipes under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and KWA old schemes kept lagging the road works along the stretch.
