Thilakan to appear before AMMA executive

TPURAM: In a new twist to the war of attrition between veteran actor Thilakan and Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), the actor has decided to appear before the organisations executive committee meeting on Monday to apprise them of his version.

Thilakan, who had declined twice earlier to appear before the disciplinary panel set up by the AMMA executive and was placed under suspension, told reporters that he would be attending the meeting to convince them of the conspiracy by a section in the organisation to keep him out of films.

AMMA general secretary Mohanlal has given me a fresh letter and I am going to attend the meeting on Monday. I will decide on the next course of action after knowing their (AMMA) stand on the issue, he said.

Thilakan was excluded from Mohanlal starrer film Christian Brothers and a Hollywood movie Dam 999 directed by Malayali film-maker Sohan Roy after the technicians forum Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), refused to co-operate with the projects if the actor was cast in the films.

Thilakan had infuriated FEFKA and AMMA, which he said, had turned into mafia groups serving the interests of superstars only.
