Three killed in jeep-lorry collision

KOTTAYAM: Three of a family including a nine-month old baby was killed after a tanker lorry and a jeep collided at Kannadichalil on the Thazhathangadi-Kumarakom Road.

The jeep carrying 15 persons, natives of Idukki, was on a pilgrimage tour. Initial reports said the jeep traveling on a narrow road was over speeded and overloaded.

The incident happened early Monday morning at 1.30 am. The tanker lorry was returning after supplying drinking water to many places in the district and the jeep was from Cherthala.

The dead has been identified as Theyya, Rashi and nine-month old baby Arya Nandan.

The other 12 persons injured have been admitted at Kottayam Medical College Hospital.
