Call to women scientists

KOCHI: Mayor Mercy Williams has said that scientific knowledge should help to overcome the problems of day-to-day life.

Delivering the inaugural address at a function organised here on Wednesday as a curtain raiser to the first Kerala Womens Science Congress to be held at St. Teresas College from August 10 to 12, Ms. Williams said that women scientists can orient the women in society to contribute to reduce todays burning problems of climate change and global warming.

Delivering the keynote address M. Leelavathy, noted literary critic, said that determination and confidence would lead women to great scientific achievements. Sister Christabelle, Principal of St. Teresas College, presided. C.P. Tara, Founder President of Shakti, a movement of women, spoke about the aim of the conference and the initiatives of the organisation in women empowerment
