Crop museum inaugurated

KOZHIKODE: Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran inaugurated a crop museum at the Urban Wholesale Agricultural Market at Vengeri here on Monday.

He inaugurated the project by planting a sapling on the wholesale market campus. Nearly 500 saplings of different varieties of trees were also planted on 3.5 acres of land on the wholesale market on the occasion.

Saplings of mango, guava, jackfruit, passion fruit, sapota, mangostein, West Indian cherry, butter fruit, lime, jamun and Malayan apple were brought from research institutes of the Kerala Agricultural University and government farms for cultivation, officials of the Department of Agriculture said.
