KOCHI: Joint Registrar of Cooperative Societies T. Mayadevi has said that deposits in cooperative institutions in the district have registered an increase of about Rs. 4,000 crore in the four years since the Left Democratic Front government came to power.
Addressing a press conference at the district collectorate to explain the achievements of the cooperative department in the district, Ms. Mayadevi said that deposits in the cooperative institutions which stood at Rs. 2,625.6 crore four years ago had gone up to Rs. 6,952.37 crore since then.
An assistance of Rs. 3.84 crore was given out to 93 beneficiaries in the district as agriculture debt relief.
Ms. Mayadevi said that the process to write off the debts of fishing workers and widows was in progress.
