Painting a world record

Thiruvananthapuram: Marthandam Rajasekharan is equally at ease working with a film crew or wielding the brush. The art director-cum-painter now has a new reason to feel proud. He has just made it to the Limca Book of Records for creating the worlds largest easel painting.

Located at Neyyatinkara on the side of the Thiruvananthapuram- Kanyakumary National Highway, the easel is 56.5 feet tall and 31 feet wide and features a portrait of former Chief Minister E.M.S.Namboodiripad. The portrait itself is 25 feet high and 50 feet wide. Though the painting was completed in five days in April 2008, the easel was erected in about two months
