Sanctioning of PWD works: Probe against Joseph begins

KOLLAM: Kerala government has begun an inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the sanctioning of PWD works by former minister P J Joseph during his last month in office, Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan said on Monday.

The Finance department had already started an inquiry into the issue and Finance Minister T M Thomas Isaac would reveal more details on the matter, the Chief Minister told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

Earlier, when the question was raised by journalists at the post-cabinet briefing, Achuthanandan said the complaint against Joseph had been raised by the Finance Minister and hence it could not be without basis.

Joseph was removed from the cabinet by the Chief Minister last week after his party KC-J decided to quit the LDF and merge with UDF constituent KC-M.
