Super specialty OP clinics at new block from July 1

Thiruvananthapuram: The new super specialty (SS) block of Medical College Hospital, constructed as part of the Rs.120-crore Prime Ministers Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), will formally start outpatient clinics of six super specialty streams on July 1.

The SS block, one of the major highlights of the PMSSY scheme and constructed by HLL Lifecare Ltd. , is expected to be dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister by July end or the first week of August, Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy said at a press conference here on Friday.

The 253-bed SS block, spread over 1,60,000 sq.ft on seven floors, houses the outpatient clinics and inpatient wards of the six super specialties, eight operation theatres, 29-bed six intensive care units, haemo dialysis unit and renal transplant unit, apart from administrative blocks.
