Temple aid for the poor and ill

KOCHI: As part of extending its charitable services, the temple trust committee of the Thiruvairanikulam Mahadeva Temple at Aluva has decided to grant a monthly financial assistance of not less than Rs. 300 to the destitute afflicted with serious diseases and those from the lowest strata of society without the means to manage their day-to-day life within the limits of the Sreemoolanagaram panchayat. Besides, 5 kg of rice would be distributed free every month to poor families residing adjacent to the temple, P.K. Venugopal, president of the temple trust, and M.K. Das, secretary, told a press conference here on Wednesday.
