Temples reconsecrated at Kalady

Nedumbassery: Jagadguru Sankaracharya Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, presiding Acharya of the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, reconsecrated the Goddess Sharadamba and Sri Adi Sankara temples at Kalady on Sunday.

Amidst hundreds of devotees chanting mantras and prayers, the 36 {+t} {+h} pontiff of Adi Sankara stood atop the sanctum sanctorum of the temples, pouring consecrated water from a golden pot at Simha Lagnam.

On the occasion, an eagle appeared in the sky and hovered over the place three times.

In the Hindu tradition, the ceremony of Kumbhabhishekam is held to synergise the mystical powers of the idol. The ceremony is also believed to foster healthy propagation of the progeny besides bringing all-round prosperity.
