Anti-fever measures intensified

Thiruvananthapuram: Officials of the district medical administration said here on Thursday that fever and infectious diseases control measures were augmented in the district.

Control activities in Vilavoorkal panchayat, where a dengue outbreak had been reported earlier, were reinforced by formulating special action plan. Twelve mobile fever clinics are currently operating in the district.

Meanwhile, health field staff, Kudumbasree and ASHA workers have been asked to lead vector control activities in the district by making house visits and encouraging the public to keep their homes and premises free of vector-breeding sites. In areas where there is water scarcity and where drinking water is habitually stored in vessels, care should be taken to see that these containers are closed tightly and cleaned out every week so as to prevent mosquitoes breeding in the vessel.
