Landslips throw rail traffic out of gear

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Railways diverted several trains to and from Kerala on Saturday and cancelled a few services scheduled for Sunday on account of two landslips between the Padil and the Thokur railway stations, near Mangalore.

Round-the-clock work is on to the clear the track and resume services by Sunday afternoon, Railways said in a press note here on Saturday.

Several long-distance mail and express trains from major stations in Kerala and those coming to the State were diverted.

Train no. 2431Trivandrum-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express was diverted via Arsikere, Hubli and Madgaon; and 6338 Ernakulam-Okha Express via Palakkad, Dharmavaram, Gooty, Pune and Vasai Road.
