Sanction for 52 roads by PWD in Ernakulam

KOCHI: No bill is pending in the Public Works Department (PWD) in Ernakulam district, which is unprecedented in the past 24 years, P.A. Hashim, Executive Engineer in the department, said here on Thursday.

At a press conference here in connection with the fourth anniversary of the State government, Mr. Hashim said that projects estimated at Rs.180 crore were to be taken up by the PWD (Buildings) section in the district.

He said Rs.50 lakh would be spent on constructing public toilets at General Hospital, the Collectorate, the civil stations at Thripunithura, Angamaly, and Perumbavur and the Kerala High Court. The work would be launched soon.

Renovation of old government buildings was under way in the district. Works estimated at Rs.23 crore had been completed. Works estimated at Rs.60 crore were progressing, while those at Rs.40 crore were near completion.
