CD seized from suspect\'s house

KOCHI: Police officers investigating the assault case on T.J. Joseph, Professor at Newman College, Thodupuzha, on Thursday seized a compact disc (CD) containing images of torture and executions done by the Taliban along with other incriminating documents from one of the suspects.

The CD was recovered from a Toyota Innova owned by Kunjumon of Aluva. The vehicle was confiscated from his residence on Thursday, after the investigators received information that one group involved in the assault had travelled by this vehicle. No one has been taken into custody in this connection.

Director-General of Police Jacob Punnoose told The Hindu that the evidence points to extensive preparations being made ahead of the assault. �We are taking this development very seriously, he said.

Mr. Punnoose had visited the scene of the crime in Muvattupuzha and reviewed the progress of investigation on Wednesday night. Following the seizure of the CD, the top officials in the district met to take stock of the situation.

The police conducted searches for suspects in different parts of rural district on Thursday. Investigators said the group had made efforts to cover the track.
