Govindacharya rules out rejoining BJP

KOCHI: The former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Govindacharya, has scotched rumours that he is going to rejoin the party.

At a meet the press programme organised by the Ernakulam Press Club here on Thursday, he said he had resigned from the party out of disillusionment with the happenings within the party which had failed to meet social goals.

He said he had no conflict with anyone while relinquishing the party membership. At present, he was coordinating activities of various social groups to further the cause of social development under a new organisation, Bharat Vikas Sangama.

Idealism had taken a back seat and all political parties, including the BJP, had become pro-rich, he said.
