Special campaign against dengue

Thiruvananthapuram: The alarming surge in the cases of dengue fever in the district has prompted the district health administration to launch a special disease control and prevention campaign on a war footing in five panchayats and areas within the city Corporation.

The campaign to control and prevent the spread of infectious diseases, with a focus on dengue fever, is being planned for three weeks from July 26 in Corporation wards in the periphery of the district and in Balaramapuram, Vilappil, Vizhinjam, Aamachal and Vilavoorkal panchayats, where local outbreak of dengue had occurred as soon as rains began.

The district has so far reported 690 dengue cases and one death due to the infection.
