State pays homage to M.G. Radhakrishnan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: People from different walks of life paid a tearful homage to veteran Carnatic music vocalist and composer M.G. Radhakrishnan who died here on Friday afternoon.

Right from the morning, Medayil House, his residence at Thycaud in the city, witnessed luminaries from the film and music world, including Nedumudi Venu, Jagathy Sreekumar, streaming in.

The body was taken to the Swati Tirunal Music Academy where students and the talents whom he nurtured gathered to pay last respects to their guru.

The body was later taken to the All India Radio and was brought to his residence. Around 4 p.m., the body was taken to Santhi Kavadam and was cremated with State honours in the presence of a huge crowd comprising Ministers, politicians and music buffs. His son Rajakrishnan performed the last rites.
