A ten-day treat for book lovers



Thiruvananthapuram: The annual book fair organised by the State Institute of Languages at the VJT hall here from Thursday promises a treat for bibliophiles. As many as 2,000 titles on subjects ranging from science and technology, literature, archaeology and health to fisheries, agriculture and music are exhibited at the fair.

Screen plays of various movies and biographies of famous personalities are also on sale. Complete works of B.R. Ambedkar in 34 volumes is one of the major attractions.

Prathapa Muthaliyar Charithram, the first novel in Tamil, is another exhibit of interest.

All the books exhibited at the 10- day fair are printed and published by the institute and are priced from Rs.10 to Rs.500.

There is also a discount of 20 to 50 per cent on all the titles. A special discount of up to 60 per cent is being offered for old books.

The institute is using a new open source software developed by the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT) for the sale of books at the fair.
