VS\' remarks not against any religion: Viswan

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Coming to the defence of Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan whose remarks about the Popular Front of India (PFI) have kicked up a row in the State, Left Democratic Front (LDF) convener Vaikom Viswan has said the remarks were directed only at the PFI and its activities and not against Islam or Muslims.

All that the Chief Minister did was to place the facts before the people and expose what the Popular Front has been doing. Why is the UDF getting worked up because of that, Mr. Viswan asked.

The LDF leader was replying to questions about the Chief Ministers remark at his media briefing after the LDF panel meeting here on Tuesday.

All political movements in the State should have rallied behind the Chief Minister instead of attacking him, Mr. Viswan said.
