Gujarat handicrafts expo has a pan-Indian touch

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The ongoing Gujarat Handicrafts and Handloom expo at Jawahar Balabhavan in the city has on display a variety of ethnic handloom and handicraft items from different parts of the country.

Organised by Gujarat Emporium, the exhibition directly brings to the public, products made by traditional weavers and craftsmen at reduced rates. Some of the items on display are colourful dresses, jewellery, gift items, leather bags, purses, gloves, puppets made of cloth and wood, valuable Rajasthani jewellery made of precious and semi-precious stones, candle stands and rare idol collections.

Saris, churidars, dress materials, ladies tops and bed sheets from Gujarat, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka are also available at the expo. Also available are carpets, doormats, mats made of lace works and saris with Phulkari design works from Warangal.
