�Haritha Keralam\' to be launched

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Forest Minister Benoy Viswom will inaugurate �Haritha Keralam on the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) campus at Pallippuram, near here, on Monday, Quit India Day.

The Social Forestry division of the State Forest Department and the Central Reserve Police Force are jointly launching the Haritha Keralam scheme.

Saplings to be planted

Over 5,000 saplings of different varieties of trees will be planted on a single day.

Each CRPF trainee will plant three saplings and tend to them to ensure cent percent survival.

K.V. Madhusudhanan, Deputy Inspector-General, will preside over the function. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Social Forestry) V.K. Sinha will be present on the occasion.

The saplings will be provided by the State Forest Department.
