Housing scheme for NRIs

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Housing Board will implement a housing scheme for overseas Keralites in Kozhikode with assistance from the government, Minister for Forest and Housing Benoy Viswom said here on Thursday.

The foundation stone for the project, being taken up as part of the Kozhikode Medical College Scheme, would be laid on August 13. The government had earmarked Rs.1 crore for the project in the budget. The total cost would be Rs.16.5 crore.

The Minister told reporters that the project envisaged three buildings with 88 flats with two and three bedrooms. The two-bedroom flat (780 sq. ft.) would cost about Rs.17 lakh while the three bedroom flat (948 sq. ft.) would cost Rs.21 lakh.

The complex would have facilities for car parking, recreation, water harvesting and fire fighting besides centralised gas system, lifts and generator
