Leadership award for SCMS chairman

KOCHI: Kerala is not able to reach the top in the area of higher education, as we are not able to produce centres of excellence, T. K. A. Nair, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, has said.

In his address at the presentation of the Kerala Management Associations management leadership award 2010 to G. P. C. Nayar, chairman of SCMS Group of Educational Institutions, here on Saturday, Dr. Nair encouraged higher educational institutions in the State to step up quality of education being offered to the students.

Pointing out that the higher educational institutions in the State do not figure anywhere in the map of renowned higher educational institutions across the country, Dr. Nair wondered why Kerala is behind in having centres of excellence in higher education.

He said that standards and quality of higher education are the issues plaguing the higher education in the State.
