Murder bid: interim plea rejected

Thiruvananthapuram: Principal Sessions Judge K. Ramakrishnan on Tuesday rejected an interim plea filed by six persons, including four proclaimed gang leaders, to suspend a sub court sentence against them.

Last week, Sub Court Judge Ajitha. K. Hassan had found them guilty of attempt to murder a 73-year-old man as part of an underworld effort to extra judicially evict a tenant from a valuable commercial space at Peroorkada in 2004.

The main accused in the case are Om Prakash, Puthenpalam Rajesh, Goondukadu Shabu alias Prabudhan and Kannadi Shaji, all proclaimed gang leaders under the provisions of the Kerala Anti Social Activities Prevention (Act) (KAPA).
