Ramayana mural show draws crowds

KOLLAM: An exhibition of 36 murals depicting the Ramayana at the Sopanam Kalakendram here is drawing crowds.

The work is a creation by 18 artists led by Prince Thonnakkal. The endeavour began in the Malayalam month of Karkkidakam last year at the Pattathanam Sree Krishnaswamy temple and was targeted to be exhibited during Karkkidakam this year.

The show which began on Monday concludes on Wednesday.

The work begins with Ma Nishada and ends with Sreerama Pattabhishekam. It includes Puthrakameshti, Santhanalabdi, Gurukulam, Ahalyamoksham, Sitas youth, Sita Swayamvaram, Sumitropadesham, Panchavadi, Rama-Ravana Yudham and Agnipravesham.

The paintings have been created using acrylic on canvas. The sketches were finished by Mr. Prince and the colours were provided by the others of his team. The paintings have also been brought out as a book titled �Mural Ramayana. The book and the print of each painting are available at the venue.
