Title deeds for all Adivasis in Wayanad by October

KALPETTA: Revenue Minister K.P. Rajendran said here on Saturday that Wayanad would be the first district in the State to complete the distribution of land deeds under the Scheduled Tribes and other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006 by the end of October.

Inaugurating �Pattaya Melas held at Mananthavadi and Sulthan Bathery, Mr. Rajendran said the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government had distributed land deeds to 4,025 applicants under the Forest Rights Act so far and the remaining 602 applications were in the final stage of processing.

The applicants will be given the title deeds by October-end, he added.

The Minister complimented the officials concerned for achieving the goal within a short span of time.

He said the State would set a model for the country by enacting the Forest Right Act.
